When night falls, anxiety often accompanies it.
Children frequently cry before falling asleep. They are scared. They are afraid of letting go, of surrendering, of losing control.
In this final phase of the day, prayer is therefore highly appropriate. It would be beneficial to pray for an extended period: 20, 30, 40, or even 60 to 70 minutes.
What’s the rush?
All major spiritual traditions across the globe agree on this point: it is good to surrender to sleep by quietly and patiently elevating ourselves toward the spiritual frequencies of the Eternal Being, the Divine, and finding His Peace.
I believe it is also healthy to carry out three very simple inner acts while reflecting on the day that has just passed:
First, we should be grateful for all the little or significant graces we have received, such as a pleasant encounter, kind words, a moment of intuition, a loving gesture, etc.
Next, it is healthy to ask for forgiveness for all the things we have failed to do, our missteps, regrets, or unworthy acts. However, we should approach this without bitterness or mental convolutions, but with great humility, honesty, and faith in the forgiveness we have already received.
Finally, I believe it is beautiful to ask for help with all the things we aspire to do, as well as for those we must face that we may not yet be aware of. In fact, asking for forgiveness opens us up to the Life that is yet to come.
Thus, we can finally surrender without fear to the Great Unknown.
At the end of a year, much like at the end of a long day, these behaviours can benefit us and help us adopt the right mindset to embrace the significant events that 2026 will bring.
Best wishes to you all for a Life that can continually surprise, amaze, and move us to tears with its infinite richness and capacity to create ever new and more beautiful things.
